Yoga Mat and Straps

Whatever your interest in yoga, I'm here to help you. Let's go on the journey together.

I’ve practiced various styles of Yoga for over 10 years, qualifying in London as a Power Yoga Teacher in June 2023. I am also a Social Worker for adults (since 2009), which has built in me, a level of empathy and non-judgement that I consistently bring to my yoga practice. I cover the West Berkshire area.

My ambition is for others to feel the benefits of yoga but also to explore their own personal yoga journey. I believe strongly that we all need to learn to listen to what our minds and bodies need from us, at any given moment. Everyone is different and the challenges you will face within yoga, and the benefits you will feel, are very individual.

With this mission, comes a curiosity and a desire for me to continue learning - from my students and from my own yoga practice. I enjoy the physical aspect of yoga but also have a deep respect for the theories, histories and philosophies behind why we practice and my ambition is to combine all of these when I teach yoga to others. In my classes you can expect strength building, working on your joint and muscle mobility, and improving balance – all within your own capabilities. This will ultimately lead to a still and restful pose where you can feel a calming of the mind and soul. I will support you to take what you need from my classes – whether it’s a moment of quiet for yourself, an invigorating flow, a nice stretch or deeper spiritual exploration.

Power yoga is about building heat in the body, but it is also about quieting the mind through a movement meditation.

What others think of my yoga class:

I have done some yoga classes before but this was my first time doing power yoga and it’s a great combination of stretch and relaxation as well as feeling like you have done some cardio work out. Mia is really calming and great at explaining, I would 100% recommend her class. - Francesca (August 2023)

Mia was kind enough to deliver two power yoga sessions for the Secret Garden Project as free community based activities, and I would like to thank Mia for helping us to bring such rewarding events to those who really need them. The feedback from those attending was wholeheartedly positive and everyone found the class extremely rewarding. Mia is a calm, patient, down to earth and encouraging yoga teacher. Her ability to make everyone feel comfortable is remarkable. I sincerely hope that Mia will work with us again in future. - Sukey (October 2023)

Your Questions

I've never done yoga before, is your class for me?

Absolutely yes. Each pose can be adapted to suit anybody. This class is a great way to measure progress as well as you'll recognise a lot of the same poses from class to class. So if you come regularly you'll be able to easily see how you're progressing.

I'm not very "bendy", will I still get something out of this class?

You will - the benefits of each pose is huge, regardless of how flexible you are. If you want to become more flexible then this is a great class. If you don't... then this is still a great class!

Are your classes hard? I'm worried I'll get left behind or find it hard.

My class is not filled with complicated inversions or poses that you won't be able to do. It invites you, at points, to explore some poses that might challenge you but I will guide you through these safely and we will only ever do what you feel comfortable doing. You will always be welcomed to listen to your own body and mind and treat it however it needs to be treated on any given day - if you need to stay in child's pose for the whole lesson - PLEASE DO. I can adjust you in child's pose to maximise its benefits to you as much as any other pose (and it feels lovely). If you want to give a hand stand or forearm stand a go, then I will support you in that also. You will build heat throughout the class but you will also find rest and stillness throughout. Some flows do move as fast as your breath does (one breath, one pose) but you can do these at your own pace. And again, this is a great way to measure progress in your practice as you'll find that the pace becomes more fulfilling over time/practice.
